Bare Metal Server Overview
KakaoCloud Bare Metal Server is a cloud service that offers a standalone server capable of utilizing all hardware resources in a non-virtualized environment. This service provides high-performance instances and network resources. As it accesses hardware directly without going through a virtualized environment, it can achieve outstanding performance results.
Purpose and use cases
Bare Metal Server is suitable for services that require excellent performance and stability. Especially, workloads such as AI/ML, which require large-scale data processing, can benefit from running on bare metal instances. Additionally, non-technical requirements, licensing restrictions, specific software needs, etc., may make operating on a bare metal infrastructure a more useful choice than virtualization.
- Gaming and media services can gain stability and performance advantages when handling large-scale database tasks and high-performance computing on bare metal servers.
- Educational and financial services need to operate in an independent infrastructure environment not dependent on external factors. In these cases, bare metal servers can operate independently without relying on an external virtualized environment.
- Licensing issues that prevent operation on virtualized resources, such as Oracle DBMS licenses, can be resolved by using bare metal servers.
