File Storage overview

KakaoCloud File Storage is a service for storing and sharing data between multiple servers and applications using the NFS (Network File System) protocol, a network protocol for remote file sharing and distributed file systems. You can easily create a repository to store common data, and the stored data can be shared and managed across services and applications consisting of multiple servers, making it suitable for workloads that use a shared file system.

info

As of December 1, 2023, File Storage is the ‘GA’ version, which can allocate a total capacity of up to 50TB within the project.

Purposes and use cases

When files and data are stored on individual users or teams' local computers, data management and backups become complicated, and data can become scattered and reduce work efficiency. Additionally, when data is distributed across local environments, data security and access control can be difficult, and sensitive data may not be secure.
However, using KakaoCloud File Storage, you can efficiently manage the storage and management of commonly used data, migration, and application workload. File Storage can be utilized in most IT services that require data storage, management, and migration.

Features

Flexible storage volume operations

  • Cost and data can be managed efficiently by setting the volume size based on expected usage.

Simple and intuitive dashboard

  • You can check the status of each volume at a glance on the dashboard, and check various information such as operation status and creation date.

Connection with various environments

  • Supports connection in various environments
  • If access within the same subnet is feasible, connectivity can extend beyond just VM (Virtual Machine) to include the Kubernetes Engine as well.

Safe Data Storage

  • Supports file storage backup (Full/Incremental) and restore functions

Cost-effectiveness

  • Reduces costs of purchasing, maintaining, and upgrading physical storage hardware
  • Optimize costs by adjusting storage capacity as needed
