View alert history and set silence

You can view alert history generated by configured alert policies and set silence to suppress recurring alerts. For information on creating alert policies, see Create and manage alert policies.

Currently, silence can only be set for alerts generated by alert policies with the metric condition type.

View alert history

You can view alert history generated by configured alert policies.

  1. Go to KakaoCloud Console > Management > Alert Center.

  2. Click Alert history (for organizations, click Alert history (organization)), and then check the alerts in the Alerts tab.

  • If an alert is delivered via a receiving channel, you can access the Alert history page by clicking the [Set silence] button in the message.
  • On mobile devices, clicking the [Set silence] button will directly take you to the Silence settings page, where you can easily suppress alerts without additional condition settings.

Create silence

You can create silence to suppress recurring alerts.

  1. Go to KakaoCloud Console > Management > Alert Center.

  2. Click Alert history (for organizations, click Alert history (organization)), and then click [Create silence].

  3. In the Create silence pop-up, enter the required information and click [Save].

    - Quick settings: Enter the duration for silence from the current time

    ㄴ Supported units: weeks (w), days (d), hours (h), minutes (m)
    - Manual settings: Directly select start and end times
    ServiceSelect the service to silence
    - Only services with existing alert policies can be selected
    Metric itemSelect the metric item to silence
    - If you want to silence based only on labels without specifying a metric, select "All metrics"
    - If "All metrics" is selected, at least one label must be specified
    LabelsEnter the label to silence
    - Label: Attribute assigned to identify metric data
    - Enter in key=value format
    - To check labels of a specific metric, go to Monitoring > Metric Explorer and query the desired metric
    CreatorID of the user creating the silence
    DescriptionReason for creating the silence

View silence

You can check the details of configured silence.

  1. Go to KakaoCloud Console > Management > Alert Center.

  2. Click Alert history (for organizations, click Alert history (organization)), and then check the list of silences in the Silence tab.

    - Expired: Expired (reached the end time or manually expired by user)

    - If a metric item was selected when creating silence, it is also shown under Labels
    MoreDepending on the silence status, you can Edit, Expire, Recreate, or Delete
    - Active or Pending: Edit or Expire
    - Expired: Recreate or Delete
    Recreate allows you to create a new silence with the same conditions as the expired one

Modify silence

You can edit an existing silence.

  1. Go to KakaoCloud Console > Management > Alert Center.

  2. Click Alert history (for organizations, click Alert history (organization)), and then click [More] or the [Edit] button in the top-right corner of the silence details page.

  3. In the Edit silence pop-up, update the information and click [Save].

    - Start time is set to the original value, so you must set it to a time after the current time
    - When time settings are updated, the existing silence is marked as Expired and a new silence is created with the updated conditions

    - Changing the service will mark the existing silence as Expired and create a new one with the updated conditions
    Metric itemCheck and update the selected metric item
    - Changing the metric item will mark the existing silence as Expired and create a new one with the updated conditions
    LabelsCheck and update the selected labels
    - Changing labels will mark the existing silence as Expired and create a new one with the updated conditions
    CreatorID of the user who created the silence
    DescriptionReason for modifying the silence

Delete silence

You can delete silences in the Expired state.

caution

Once an expired silence is deleted, it cannot be recreated.

  1. Go to KakaoCloud Console > Management > Alert Center.
  2. Click Alert history (for organizations, click Alert history (organization)), and then click [More] or the [Delete] button in the top-right corner of the silence details page for a silence in the Expired state.
  3. In the Delete silence pop-up, check the confirmation message and click [Delete].
