Create and manage notification channels

You can configure and manage notification channels and the recipients who will receive alerts. You can set IAM users within a project as recipients and receive notifications when events occur in services. Here’s how to create and manage notification channels in the Alert Center service.

At least one notification channel must be created in advance to create an alert policy.

Create notification channel

You can create a new notification channel for receiving alerts.

  1. Go to KakaoCloud Console > Management > Alert Center.

  2. Click the Notification channel menu (for organization users, click Notification channel (Organization)) and click the [Create notification channel] button.

  3. In the pop-up, enter the information and click [Create].

    Main channel type > SlackIf Slack is selected, perform the following steps
    1. Click [Connect to Slack] and log in
    2. Return to the page and confirm the desired workspace name
    3. Enter the channel name (must start with #)
    4. Optionally, test the connection
    - Click [Send test alert] to send a test message
    Main channel type > WebhookEnter the endpoint URL
    - Must start with http:// or https://
    Main channel type > Pub/SubSelect a topic to receive alerts
    - Default-Topic cannot be selected
    Fallback channelChoose whether to use an alternate channel
    - If used, alerts will be sent to the alternate channel when the main channel fails
    - Only basic channels (Email/SMS/Alim Talk) are available
    - If the main channel is a basic channel, the same recipient list will be used for the alternate channel
    * The same channel type cannot be selected for both main and alternate channels
    Notification channel statusChoose whether to activate the notification channel
    - If activated, the notification channel is created and used immediately
    - If not activated, the channel is only created but not used
    * You can change the status after creation

Manage notification channel

You can view and manage information about already created notification channels.

View notification channel list

You can check the list of currently registered notification channels.

  1. Go to KakaoCloud Console > Management > Alert Center.

  2. Click the Notification channel menu (for organization users, click Notification channel (Organization)), and check the list of currently registered notification channels.

    StatusIndicates whether the notification channel is active
    MoreClick [More] to modify or delete individual notification channels

View notification channel details

You can check detailed information and usage status for a notification channel.

  1. Go to KakaoCloud Console > Management > Alert Center.

  2. Click the Notification channel menu (for organization users, click Notification channel (Organization)) and select the notification channel to view from the list.

  3. On the detailed page of the notification channel, review the information.

Modify notification channel

You can modify an already created notification channel.

  1. Go to KakaoCloud Console > Management > Alert Center.

  2. Click the Notification channel menu (for organization users, click Notification channel (Organization)) and click the [Update] button at the top-right of the notification channel list or details page.

  3. Enter the changes and click [Update].

    - If the main channel is not a basic channel, you must specify recipients for the alternate channel
    * The same channel type cannot be selected for both main and alternate channels
    Notification channel statusChoose whether to activate the notification channel
    - If activated, the notification channel is updated and used immediately
    - If not activated, the channel is only updated but not used

Delete notification channel

You can delete a notification channel that is no longer needed.

caution

Deleted channels cannot be restored, and deleting a notification channel will affect any alert policies that use it. Be mindful of this when deleting a notification channel.

  1. Go to KakaoCloud Console > Management > Alert Center.
  2. Click the Notification channel menu (for organization users, click Notification channel (Organization)) and click the [Delete] button at the top-right of the notification channel list or details page.
  3. In the pop-up, enter the name of the channel to delete, and click [Delete].
