Maintenance overview
KakaoCloud Maintenance service is an integrated maintenance solution designed to ensure stable cloud service operations.
Maintenance enables safe execution of instance upgrades and configuration changes through a cloud-based maintenance system. It helps plan stable service operations by identifying tasks with potential downtime in advance and scheduling them at the desired time.
While KakaoCloud Maintenance supports safe execution of cloud service updates, actual updates are carried out according to each service's policy. Service impact may occur during updates, so it is recommended to perform backups in advance.
In addition, through KakaoCloud Alert Center, you can configure event notification policies for each service. When thresholds are reached, alert messages are sent immediately to responsible parties for more efficient resource management. For configurable events, refer to Cloud Trail > Key concepts, and for setting notification policies, see Alert Center > Create and manage notification policies.
- Task: A maintenance unit that includes required version information and recommended/deadline schedules, managing multiple resources together.
- Resource: An individual unit within a task, representing the smallest management unit for which an execution schedule can be set.
Purpose and use cases
Maintenance helps safely perform OS, engine, and kernel upgrades and configuration changes for MySQL and other instances in a cloud environment. Without this service, unexpected downtime or difficulty in scheduling updates may directly impact services, making stable operation difficult. Unplanned service outages and operational risks may increase management burden.
Users can schedule tasks during low-traffic hours, anticipate potential downtime, and maintain stable service operation. Automating maintenance tasks such as security patches, performance improvements, and configuration changes enables failure prevention and rapid response, thereby improving operational efficiency.
Features
Maintenance ensures stable cloud service operations through the following features:
Support OS, engine, and kernel upgrades
- Automatically checks current version and suggests upgrade to latest recommended version. Enables step-by-step upgrades to minimize service impact.
Notify potential service interruptions in advance
- Provides early warning for tasks that may cause downtime, helping prevent unexpected failures. Allows quick preparation when pre-work is needed.
Enable user-defined task scheduling
- Users can reserve upgrades or configuration changes at desired times, enabling maintenance during low-traffic periods for stable operation.
Monitor in real time and respond quickly
- Tracks task progress and results in real time. Enables quick issue detection, retry configuration, and error handling for fast resolution.
Provide intuitive task list UI
- Displays ongoing and completed tasks at a glance. Shows task status, impact level, and schedule intuitively, enabling efficient management.
