Monitoring overview

In a cloud environment, real-time monitoring of server, network, application, and resource status is essential. KakaoCloud's Monitoring service enables users to monitor and manage the status and changes of computing resources and applications operated in KakaoCloud in real time via a dashboard.
The Monitoring service integrates with KakaoCloud’s Alert Center. When you set threshold alerts for key metrics and logs in Alert Center, notification messages are sent immediately to the relevant contacts as soon as the threshold is reached, allowing more efficient resource management.

  • To use the Monitoring service, installing the Monitoring Agent is required.
  • KakaoCloud’s Monitoring monitors server, network, application, and resource status in real time in the cloud environment. For monitoring user activities (such as logins, resource creation, and modifications), refer to the Cloud Trail service.

Purpose and use cases​

Without using the Monitoring service, it is challenging to understand the current system status, making it difficult to detect issues or abnormalities quickly, which can lead to delayed incident response. Furthermore, managing resources efficiently becomes more challenging, potentially increasing resource costs or causing performance issues. With KakaoCloud's Monitoring service, you can continuously monitor systems and resources in a cloud environment to resolve issues promptly, enhancing service availability, stability, security, and performance. It also allows the collection and use of business-critical data.

Key features​

  • Default dashboard: Provides default dashboards for key services such as Beyond Compute Service, allowing you to check key resource metrics without additional configuration.
  • Custom dashboard: Configure dashboards by selecting the resources and metrics to monitor so that you can view multiple resources at a glance.
  • Explorer: View metrics and logs collected by Monitoring by service and resource.
  • Alert Center integration: Configure threshold alerts for key metrics and logs and receive real-time alert messages.
  • Basic features at no additional cost: Use basic Monitoring features, such as dashboards and Explorer, at no additional cost.
