July 21, 2026

General availability (GA) release

  • KMS is now generally available (GA).
  • Usage-based billing applies to key versions in Enabled or Disabled status and to API calls for cryptographic operations such as generating data keys, encryption, and decryption. Paid billing begins at 00:00 on August 6, 2026.

April 14, 2026

New console UI transition

  • The previous console UI is no longer supported.

Features added

  • Per-resource access control has been added to strengthen security. When access control is enabled, you can configure allowed subjects. To add allowed subjects, an IAM service role is required.
  • Bulk actions are supported, including key deletion, allowed subject deletion, and key version destruction scheduling and cancellation.

New role added

  • The KMS User role has been added. This role can view keys and perform cryptographic operations. To use KMS keys for encryption and decryption, this role or a higher permission level is required.

  • KakaoCloud Key Management Service (KMS) enables you to securely and systematically create, store, manage, and control encryption keys used for data encryption, decryption, and digital signatures. For more details, see the official KMS documentation.
