Usage-based billing applies to key versions in Enabled or Disabled status and to API calls for cryptographic operations such as generating data keys, encryption, and decryption. Paid billing begins at 00:00 on August 6, 2026.
Per-resource access control has been added to strengthen security. When access control is enabled, you can configure allowed subjects. To add allowed subjects, an IAM service role is required.
Bulk actions are supported, including key deletion, allowed subject deletion, and key version destruction scheduling and cancellation.
The KMS User role has been added. This role can view keys and perform cryptographic operations. To use KMS keys for encryption and decryption, this role or a higher permission level is required.
